NYUMBA NITU NATURAL FOREST IN TANZANIA

Nyumba nitu Natural forest is located in Mlevela village at mdandu wade,15 kilometer from Njombe  town.Tanzania Beauty we was reach there thus to day we tell you a little thing about NYUMBA NITU NATURAL FOREST.The word “nyumba nitu” is a bena language which nyumba means ‘house’ and nitu means dark . therefore nyumba nitu has its root Nyumba nitu caves and had derived its name from the dark caves which have been associated with a myth of black cows which dwelt inside the caves.

Inside the caves, local bena people hid or took refugee during tribal war between rival ‘hehe’ fighthers during  Chief Mkwawa conquests in Iringa region way back in Iringa region,way back in last quarter of 19^th century. The caves also provided save hideout from German forces during the Majimaji war uprising.

Several tales and myths surround Nyumba nitu forest, Where Wild ‘hens’ are founds living since time immemorial. The Wabena Communities are the owners of the forest Where they pay homage calls to conduct rituals and sacrifices to their unseen ancestors.
