Earthquake measuring 5.7 hits northwest Tanzania

   Earthquake measuring 5.7 hits northwest Tanzania - USGS
   
   An earthquake measuring 5.7 hit northwest Tanzania on Saturday, 44 km from Bukoba, close to the western shore of Lake Victoria, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
   
   The quake, recorded at a depth of 10 km, struck at 12.27 p.m. GMT (5.57 p.m. IST), the report added.
   
   Atleast 15 people have been killed and More than 200 reported injured in the quake, which hit Kagera region on the western shore of Lake Victoria.
   
   Widespread damage was reported following the quake, which also rocked the neighbouring regions of Mwanza, Mara and Simiyu.
   
   The quake had its epicentre in Tanzania, according to sources at a volcanic observatory in the Congolese city of Goma, where the quake was also felt.
